October Afternoon

Today over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments we are highlighting the fabulous products made by October Afternoon. And if you’ve never seen or used anything by them – you are totally missing out! Oh my goodness this stuff rocks!!!! What I’ve got to show you is a chipboard book my Melissa Frances that I bought from Jacksonbelle ages ago – she has some way cute ones in stock now from Basic Grey!. Isn’t the semi circle shape just the cutest thing?! For once, I’ve managed to start early on a project – this is going to a mother or mother-n-law (I have 2 of each, lol) for Valentine’s Day. I thought I’d put some cute pictures of my daughter in it. You can’t go wrong with that!

I started by painting the whole book pink with acrylic paint. I didn’t worry too much about getting it on the coils, because I knew I’d be adding ribbon. I alos painted the outer edges of the paper pink as well – just remember not to let them get stuck together! It looks super cute. I took a piece of October Afternoon dp, from the Daydream line – called Rainboots, and cut it into a semi circle . Once I adhered it I used my Basic Grey sanding kit to file the edges, and the surface of the paper itself. It turned out nice and aged. I stamped my large flower, from the October Afternoon set called For the Record,  on watercolor paper, and painted it with Shimmerz. I used Olive paint on the leaves, Hottie Pink Blingz for the flower centers, and Pink Poinsetta Blingz for the petals. I cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals. I also painted the stamped floral image on the dp with Shimmerz. Above that, I stamped the word “Memories” in Versafine Black ink.

I tied pink grosgrain ribbon around every coil, cutting it at various lengths. And that is all I have to show you about this little album today – it is an ogoing process!
