A Little Birdie Told Me….

birdhouse2My daughter has a things for all things bird-related. Feeders, houses, cages – whatever. She loves it.  So I bought her this tiny on at Michael’s to paint and out in her room.

I started off by painting the whole thing gray, using an acrylic paint I had. Then I painted the roof with Coal Shimmerz Paints, and the house itself with the Flashee Fuschia. I colored my mushrooms using Prismacolor markers, cut then down a smidge, and aligned them with the left side of the house. There are stickles in the center of each flower, and on the tip of the perch. I wrapped the perch in linen thread, for no particular reason, lol! The whole house is super shimmery irl 🙂

My mushroom images are from InStyle Stamps! Aren’t they adorable?

Chocolate Treats

pad_chocolate-treats_tbuI made this card using Pez-a-Doodle stamps, because I was in the mood for some chocolate yummeis and we didn’t have any! So, I was forced to make my own, lol. I colored each treat with Cipcs, and then painted the pink Layer with Pink Poinsetta Shimmerz Blingz.  Then I did the Strawberries with Shimmerz Royal Red Paint. I applied some Dew Drops in strategic places, and tied a big ole’ bow (that’s how we say it in the South – bwahahahahaha) across the bottom. And since I can’t eat I’ve just been staring at it for hours. I think I need help, lol.

A Few Lizzie Anne Pics of Tutti Fruity

lad_cherrybookmark_tbuFirst up is a little “Cherry-o” Bookmark. I made a whole bunch of thee (ok, 5) because our bookmark stash was getting terribly low. The cherries are painted with Royal Red stickles, coffee for the stems, and olive for the leaf. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. If you are looking for a sweet, fun, and easy gift, I’d vote for bookmarks in a minute! We are constantly misplacing them, or they get crazy worn. or the bookmark monster (cousin to the sock monster that lives in dryers) eats them.

lad_chocolatepie_tbuNext up is some yummy chocolate pie.  I reliaze the intent for this set was fruits so int theory this should be an orange, lemon or lime. But I was in the mood for chocolate when I made it, so that’s what I made! No one ever turns down chocolate pie!

lad_goodapple_tbu To make up for my lust for pie, I next made a green apple card. Can’t get any healthier, right? I really think this card is quite cheerful – I love the bright colors on it! And the dew drops – I think I might be slighlt obsessed with them, lol. I wonder if there is a group for that. Hmmmmm……

Well, that is all blabbermouth me has to say today. You are shocked, I know – just one post, not too many words. But I did cram 3 pics into my post, so that should count for something!

If you can, leave me a comment and tell me which one is your favorite! I’m always interested in other peopes opinions. The pie is my favorite, lol. I’m sure there is *no* surprise in that!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Friday!!!

School Days….and Blog Candy!

jbe_jbe040_tbuCan I just start this off by saying how difficult it was to narrow down the choices for this week’s Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge? We CASE-d another DT member this week – Kim over at Sunshiny Days. Talk about one talented lady!!! *whew* I get really nervous when I have to case members of any design team, lol! I drooled over her blog (literally – she has some tasty treats on there, too!) for at least an hour before I settled on a card to case. I chose the card from the post titled Riley Sketch, and it is from last Thursday.

hsc54-k17Here is what her adorable card looks like! How cute is the little book reading Riley? I love it! For my card, I changed up the color scheme a little bit – rather than Chocolate Chip I used Tangerine Tango, and rather than circular Nesties I went with the Labels Two set. Also, I used the Lizzie Anne Designs set called School Days. I used Fancy Pants dp, from their About a Boy line. I just love the rich colors in these papers! I colored my little guy and his books with Prismacolor markers as well as Copics. The apple is popped up on a dimensional, and painted with Royal Red Shimmerz. The books have Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz on them – so sparkly irl! I used twill ribbon purchased from Jacksonbelle, but it looks like it is out of stock right now. Stalk her though – she’ll get it back, lol! In the top right corner where Kim placed brads, I put clear epoxy stickers – I love the way they magnify the stripes! Please play along with us this week – the keyword if you upload to SCS is JBE040.

Now, on to the blog candy! Be honest – that is the only reason you are still here, lol! I’m giving away $25 worth of Jacksonbelle products! How fun is that?! I picked out an assortment of Webster’s Pages, Fancy Pants Papers, and Shimmerz for someone to win! Isn’t that exciting?!?!?! All you have to do is play along with us this week. Except I’ll be even more open – pick any member of the Jacksonbelle Design Team and CASE one of our cards. Post a link back here (either to the card on your blog or to an online gallery) in the comment section, and I will draw a random winner! If you upload your card to SCS, use the keyword JBE040A, so I know it is for the extra challenge I’ve issued (and if it happens to be one of Kim’s card’s you’ve cased, use both keywords).

You have until next Monday night – February 23rd – at 8:00 EST to link your creations here. Please be sure to give credit where it is due, and say who you CASE-d!! I’ll anounce the winner next Tuesday, when we do our next Jacksonbelle Challenge! Have fun stamping! And don’t forget to stop by the Jacksonbelle Blog, where Kim has created an awesome tutorial for you this week! Links to the other DT members are on my right sidebar – so go leave some love!

It’s a {Little Paper Shop} Sneak Peek!

lps_blingedouthedgie_tbuThis is Happy Hedgehog, or “Hedgie” as I have affectionately nicknamed mine, lol. He is one of this month’s new releases from {Little Paper Shop}. Cutie Patootie, isn’t he? Today also happens to be the monthly {Little Paper Shop} Design Team challenge, and here is what Jessica dreamed up for us this month:

You guys KNOW I love my bling…so the LPSDT challenge for Feb. is to “Bling it on!” All you have to do is add a little sparkle, glitz and glamour to your fabulous creations! Easy Peasy!

Well, I can do bling. I *love* bling! But for Hedgie, no bling but Shimmerz seemed right.  So I got out my stash and went to work!

lps_blingedouthedgiecloseup_tbu Hedgie himslef is painted with Coffee colored Shimmerz Paint. I used the new Shimmerz Blingz in Flashy Fuchsia to paint his hat, and Hi Ho Silver for the polka dots, as well as the fuzzy ball on the end of the hat and the stripes on his litttle party blower. The streamers are also Flashy Fuchsia.  I got out my Olive Shimmerz Paint to create some Grass, and December Sky for the Sky. I applied that in a round motion, so it looks like a sky, with some clouds. On the sentiment panel, I used Angel Wings Shimmerz Blingz to just put a light coat over it. You can clearly see the sentiment, “Surprise” stamped under it in Memento Tuxedo Black.

My card base is Purely Pomegranate (SU). My large panel is some awesome corrugated paper that ahs a golden brassy sheen to it – it was a RAK from a friend. My brads are all sparkly – they are Spare Parts brads from Hobby Lobby. To finish it off, I tied some light pink organdy ribbon edged in gold around the top. I’m pretty pleased with this one – you should see how it shines irl!!!

Be sure to stop by the {Little Paper Shop} blog to check out other creations by the talented ladies on the DT!

Sugar Shack!

usc_usc22_tbuThis week’s Unity challenge came from Carole, and it was hard for me! She challenged us to use a non-Valentine’s stamp in a Valentine way – plus add a button and some ribbon! Aaaaackkk! I thought and I pondered and I picked through my stamps and came up with a million plans and chucked them out the window. And then I thought of this – I love this little house from Love, Etc. –  the January Kit of the Month. And I hadn’t even inked it up! The horror! So, I went in search of the perfect dp and found this piece, sent to me by Lindsey over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. It is non-Valentine-ish, so I figured it went with my theme. Plus. I *love* it, so I knew I was headed in the right direction.

usc_usc22close_tbuI colored my image with Copics and smothered it with Shimmerz and Shimmerz Blingz. You can never have too much shimmer, right? RIGHT???? I added photo corners on the right side of the card, accented with White Opal Liquid Pearls, and used that again above and under my sentiment. My little button is a Doodlebug holdover that has been in my stash forever – he is so thrilled to have gotten a new twist with some liquid pearls! I used my cropadile to put a jumbo eyelet on, threaded some ribbon through it, and walked away. I figured if I came back and looked at it and hated it, I’d start over again. But I actually like it. Different for me, but different is good!

CASE-ing Michelle

jbe_jbe038_tbuToday’s Jacksonbelle challenge was a tall order – case a card by Michelle! Holy toads! Have you SEEN how awesome her work is???? That girlie is an amazing artist, and it took me a week to figure out what to do. So long, in fact, that I actually had to whip up something last minute, lol. So, here is my humble try at being as fantabulous as Michelle is! My card is 4.25″ square. I did this because I am planning to leave little notes for DH all over the place for Valentine’s Day (I jut spoiled the surprise – he reads this, lol) and I wanted to make a few smaller cards to tuck away places. I used Prima dp – it’s called “Together” and it is from the Romantica collection. I got it forever ago at Jacksonbelle’s – she keeps the coolest collections of paper in stock! I used my curvy labels one nesties for the large square, and my circle nesties for the other layers. elzy-release-013

My stamps are from the newly released Lizzie Anne Designs set called So Much Love. I adore this heart!!! I colored it with copic Markers, and on the red hearts I added some Royal Red Shimmerz for a bit of added wowza. Sadly, I have no bear – but tht’s ok!I added a few extra Dew Drops to my card, and more dots along the nesties’ borders with a black marker. I don’t know that I did Michelle’s gorgeous card (shown to the left, image courtesy of her blog) the proper justice, but I do think mine is cute! I like that it turned out masculine enough for my DH. Although, it is still girlie enough for me!
