Simple Sympathy

DH asked for a sympathy card to a friend. I wasn’t feeling crazy creative, plus I got stamp cleaner in my mouth (don’t ask, and yes it is totally nasty!!) so I didn’t really feel like being in my stamp room — shocking, I know!

The card is straightforward; we all know I am always at a loss when it comes to sympathy cards. I did bust out Lovely As A Tree, which I have not used in longer than I can remember. I do love that set!

Sorry for the short post, bu I’m way busy today. Hope you have a spectacular Thursday 🙂

Groovy Meadows

Are you shocked? Ha!! This card is a result of two things – my need to do a challenge card because I have not done in in forever (on the day it was posted, that is), and my need to make a thank you card for my in-laws, who helped us tremedously this past weekend. Don’t forget to click on the card to enlarge it. You may get the magnifying glass tellin you it will enlarge it even more!

The color combo challenge over on SCS is great this week. Very nice set of colors that could go any way you wnat. I chose vintage, and used my In the Meadow set from LAD. I used the SU spiral punch on the left side of my GP White background. Oh, let me go off on a tangent on GP White paper. I like it for layering, but not necessarily for stamping. Whisper WHite always seem to stamp better, imo. But GP white is fantastic for distressing — the results are GORGEOUS, I think! It just bends and folds so well. So for the images on the GP white, I stamped off the flowers twice before stampin them on there, so they would have a sort of haphard look. I sponged around the edges. My main image panel has the flowers stamped in both Guava and Craft White. I also added the small pieces of dandelions floating off the panel in the two inks.

I added the seniment panel on the right side, with a piece of HPH anchoring it. I used my last bit of guava organdy ribbon to accent the card – I threaded the ends though the spiral punched holes. For balance, I added two primas with a small flower brad in the lower right corner of the card. What do you think of it?

One Fish, Two Fish…

So sorry I’ve been MIA – my husband and I threw a couples’ shower for my little brother and soon-to-be-sister-in-law on Saturday. We went out of town Friday morning, so Wednesday and Thursday last week were just insanity! Although we got back Sunday evening, I was so tired and my head hurt so bad from all the planning, lack of sleep, and lack of food (we had enough to feed an army, but I managed to be so busy I ate next to nothing!) I had to take Monday off of work to recover. I still haven’t stamped anything new, but I do have some *new to the blog* things to share!

I used LAD’s By the Sea to make this card. I went with a simple, striking color scheme and minimal embellishments. The fish are all watercolored and placed on Cuttlebugged squares. I “v-ed” the end of the ribbon before adhering it.

Thanks for being patient and hanging in there during my absence — I promise I have plans to stamp this afternoon!!!!! Have a great day 🙂

High Topiaries

A super simple card that is part of a set for my mother in law. I am using LAD’s High Hellos — talk about a set with endless possibilities!! My favorite *feature* of the set is the small, vertical orientation of the sentiments. LOVE that!

This card is part of another set I am making for someone. I had originally made her some other cards, but used a few (oops!) so I need to make her some more 🙂

The base is True Thyme, the dp is by Fancy Pants, the next layer is Regal Rose, and the image panel is Naturals White. I used Versafine Black ink and SU Markers to colors. Did a little sponging on the edges and left it alone. Oh, I paper pierced around the edges of the sentiment. But I didn’t want to add bulk, so that it won’t cost more for her to mail them.

Don’t be mad!

I had a late night meeting Monday night, and did not have the “smarts” to remember to write a post ahead of time. So I’m posting this quickie, with the same darn set I showed you yesterday – I know, you are probably bored, but I’m sorry!!! Hopefully I’ll have something with a different set tomorrow (pleasepleaseplease let me have time to stamp tonight!)!

This card is so embarrassingly simple, I almost didn’t post it. I mean really – on the Whisper White panel I stamped the shells in Cameo Coral, the sunshines in Summer Sun, and the small swirlies (is that a word?) in Cool Caribbean. Then I stamped the sentiment on more WW and cut it out with the round tab punch. I stamped off some swirlies in Coral, and added them to it, and outlined the panel with Summer Sun. Threw on a couple of spiral clips and some ribbon, and called this one done! I’m thinking maybe 10 minutes, tops?

On another note, I have discovered three new blogs I thought I’d share with you:

Stop by each of them if you get a chance! Have a great day!

Groovy Starfish

I just got the Shore Thoughts set from Lizzie Anne Designs last week, and sat down to make some cards this weekend. I think this is my favorite one. I love this dp, which is probably why I’ve hoarded it for so long!

I bought it forever ago from Jacksonbelle Embellishments. It’s by Fancy Pants, from their Fancy Free collection. The card base is Sahara Sand, and the accent squares are Soft Sky and Groovy Guava. I used the small stamp that is supposed to be for sand accents to stamp on the Soft Sky squares.

My starfish is stamped in Versafine Black ink on Confetti White cardstock, I watercolored it with Groovy Guava ink, and then covered it with Crystal Effects. The sentiment is stamped in the same black ink, and both are outlined using Basic Gray ink. I tied on some ribbon and added some bards, and considered this one finished!

Stamps: LAD Shore Thoughts
Paper: Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Confetti White, Groovy Guava, Fancy Pants dp
Ink: Versafine Black, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Basic Gray
Accessories: CE, 1 3/8″ and 1 1/4″ square punches, organdy ribbon, aquapainter, brads

The Swiss Dots Folder…

…is hands down my favorite Cuttlebug embossing folder. I love it! I don’t know what took me so long to bring myself around to purchasing it, but I’m glad I finally did!

I used Sketch Challenge #36 , posted last week, from Lizzie Anne Designs. The extra twist was to use windows where the squares were located. I love an extra twist! The card is pretty simple and straightforward. I did discover that my square punches need to be sharpened, so that is good I guess! Each of the flowers is stamped once on the Pumpkin Pie paper and then again on Confetti Cream. I colored them with SU Markers, cut them out, and popped them up on dimensionals.

Thanks for a great sketch, Meridith!
