It’s Challenge Time with the JBelle Girls!

jbelle_whiteonwhite_This week’s Jacksonebelle Team challenge is to create a card using the white on white color scheme. I’ll be honest and say this really stumped me, because I decided in my mind I wanted to make a black and white card. I’m so stubborn, I know!

I ended up getting a pre made A4 card out of my stash – it came white, lol. I used some Daisy D’s rubon’s in each to corners, and then added one of my new Memory Box stamps to the upper layer of my Nesties center panel. I used one of the Ribbon Tag trio for my October Afternoon sentiment, and added some Swiss dot ribbon by May Arts. What do you think?

Have a wonderful day!

October Afternoon

jbe_jbe036book_tbuToday over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments we are highlighting the fabulous products made by October Afternoon. And if you’ve never seen or used anything by them – you are totally missing out! Oh my goodness this stuff rocks!!!! What I’ve got to show you is a chipboard book my Melissa Frances that I bought from Jacksonbelle ages ago – she has some way cute ones in stock now from Basic Grey!. Isn’t the semi circle shape just the cutest thing?! For once, I’ve managed to start early on a project – this is going to a mother or mother-n-law (I have 2 of each, lol) for Valentine’s Day. I thought I’d put some cute pictures of my daughter in it. You can’t go wrong with that!

jbe_jbe036closeup_tbuI started by painting the whole book pink with acrylic paint. I didn’t worry too much about getting it on the coils, because I knew I’d be adding ribbon. I alos painted the outer edges of the paper pink as well – just remember not to let them get stuck together! It looks super cute. I took a piece of October Afternoon dp, from the Daydream line – called Rainboots, and cut it into a semi circle . Once I adhered it I used my Basic Grey sanding kit to file the edges, and the surface of the paper itself. It turned out nice and aged. I stamped my large flower, from the October Afternoon set called For the Record,  on watercolor paper, and painted it with Shimmerz. I used Olive paint on the leaves, Hottie Pink Blingz for the flower centers, and Pink Poinsetta Blingz for the petals. I cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals. I also painted the stamped floral image on the dp with Shimmerz. Above that, I stamped the word “Memories” in Versafine Black ink.

I tied pink grosgrain ribbon around every coil, cutting it at various lengths. And that is all I have to show you about this little album today – it is an ogoing process! As I get more accomplished, I’ll be sharing it here! Feedback is totally welcome – how do you think it looks so far? Be sure to checkout the Jacksonbelle Blog for other fun projects, and check out the DT member’s blogs as well! (links on right side)

A Jacksonbelle Challenge….

jbe_jbe035_tbuThis week the JBelle’s were challenged to use new things, since it is close to the start of a new year. I had a hard time picking out what goodies I wanted to use!! I finally settled on some super yummy Granola Paper by Basic Grey, and the new October Afternoon set, Detours, that came in the mail today.  Man I love these colors, and these October Afternon stamps!

I don’t know if it is possible to tell in this picture, but the bunny, bird, and tree leaves are all painted with the new Shimmerz Blingz, Pixie Dust. It is awesome!!!! I purposely tried to leave my inages a little “colorwashed” and not stamped clearly, to mirror the distressed image of the paper. I rock and rolled the tree in Tea Stain and Walnut distress ink.  I added some tan twill ribbon, and left the rest of the card simple – so I can try to pass it off as masculine, lol!

A Jacksonbelle Sketch – Post 1 for today :)

jbelle-january-2009-sketchHere is the Jacksonbelle sketch for this Tuesday. When I first saw it, it was like 3:00 in the morning, and I was *man is this ever complicated* — but you know what? It isn’t!! I think (and I know I’m tooting my own horn here) I made one og the simplest, most gorgeous cards I have ever made with this sketch!  I *love* my card! Please feel free to play along – you don’t have to use JBelle stuff to play. If you upload your card to SCS, use the keyword JBE034, so everyone can see it 🙂 Also, you can leave a comment here linking to it, or on the JBelle blog! Ok, ready to see my card????

jbe_jbe034_tbuTaDa!!! *applause* Ok, you may not love it as much as I do – but ohmystars I am in love with it! My base is SU Kiwi Kiss. My patterned paper is from Prima’s Lucid Collection, which I got at Jacksonbelle’s store. I also got the coordinating Prima Flowers, from the same collection, at her store. I’m not sure they are still in stock, so I’m glad I snatched them when I did! These two happen to be a perfect match to Grovy Guava cardstock. Now, let me tell you about the stamps. They are from October Afternoon – this set is called For the Record. If you don’t have any, you had better get some of these acrylic stamps in a hurry!!! I loved how well etched they were, how cleanly and clearly they stamped, how clean they came when I cleaned them (because some clear stamps just don’t come “clean”, kwim?) – basically they were of awesome quality, imo. And I love things that coordinate – so that they have paper themes to go with stamps just sends me over the moon! These are amazing acrylic stamps. And don’t worry – the DT has begged for more sets in the store, lol!

While I’m thinking about it, let me send you to a sale! Lindsey has just placed *tons* more stuff in the clearance section of her site, to make room for the super fab goodies that wil come home from Winter CHA. So go check it out! Quickly, before I buy everything in there! And while you are there, don’t forget to grab the 4 new colors of Shimmerz Blingz, that you can’t buy anywhere but Jacksonbelle Embellishments!

I hope you have time to play along with this fabulous sketch – now that I’ve done it I can see SO many more possibilities for it! I can’t wait to see what you create 🙂
