Girlie Bot

lad_girliebot_tbuWelcome to the girlie side of Gizmos and Gears! Chocolate and different shades of pink, and some blinged out chipboard shapes — it just makes me giggle! But then again, so does the super confused look I think this robot has – I know the feeling!

I had tons of fun making this card. I started with a light pink base, then threw on some chocolate Core’dinations –how fab is that paper?? Next I did a layer of hot pink, with a layer printed vellum dp under it. I used a Martha Stewart edge punch for it. I stamped a background stamp from the set on the cardstock. I grabbed my newest Nesties – Labels 4 – and cut out two large ones and a small one. For the latgest one, I used a file on the edges to make the Core’dinations show it’s core color – pink, lol! I used the smallest cutout for the sentiment.

The robot is stamped on Fabriano watercolor paper, and colored with SU  and Copic markers. Completing the card are some pink and brown ribbon, and some awesome blingy Maya Road chipboard shapes. I painted the flower stem with Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz, and the gear with Pink Poinsetta Shimmerz Blingz. You can get most of these products at Lizzie Anne Designs! It’s one stop shopping, and a flat rate of $5 for shipping. You can’t go wrong with that! The chipboard shapes are so fun, and they are ON SALE!!

CASE-ing the Amazing Kisa!!

kisaThis is Kisa’s card. The JBelle DT members all CASE-d one of her cards this week, while she cooked up the cutest tutorial for y’all! I fell in love with this ard immediately when I saw it on her blog. I was immediately drooling over her sketch, and knew I had a giraffe somewhere that needed some love! She specifically stated she wanted to keep it boyish, so my brain clicked and I decided I’d do a girlie version! After all, there must be a girlie version of all things boyish, yes?

dfa_pinkgiraffe1This is my version. LOL, it looks a little top heavy, but that is because I forgot to straighten the pic! Obviously, the giraffe is different (hers – Prima; mine – Doodle Factory), Instead of sparkly stars at the top I painted chipboard with Tim Holtz distress paint. And no brads for me – I used Liquid Pearls in White Opal everywhere. I used a piece of painted chipboard at the bottom as well, in place of a sentiment. I colored my giraffe with a copic marker, and then added Shimmer (Pink) Paint as my finishing touch! I love her, and this layout! THANKS KISA!!!!!!

Now, remember to check the JBelle Blog for her awesome tutorial and check the DT members blog’s to see what they’ve created! And oh, how could I almost forget this exciting news: From Midnight tonight untill Midnight on Friday , the SHIMMERZ ARE ON SALE!!!!! Aaaaaack! That is so exciting! They will all be 15% off. AND Lindsey has 4 new colors of paint in stock, and 2 new colors of blingz!!

My Last Twinkling Tuesday….

mttsc14And my sweet little one is our Guest Twinkie today! I told her she had to pick one green, and then anyother other colors she wanted. After *MUCH* discussion, she settled on Garden Green, Close to Cocoa, and Whisper White. I’m so proud of her! For a three year old, she grasps the concept of matching very well!

emerald-angelHere is what she and I came up with. Of course, she picked the image, the dp, the label shape, and had to have a trinket hanging from the ribbon.  We filed the edges of the dp, to add a bit more white.

I stepped down from the Twinkling Tuesday’s team because there are quite a few people on it now, and I felt my absence would not be as noticed. I have a lot of DT work to do,and Tuesday is one of my busiest days. I will miss everyone so much!!

A Little Birdie Told Me….

birdhouse2My daughter has a things for all things bird-related. Feeders, houses, cages – whatever. She loves it.  So I bought her this tiny on at Michael’s to paint and out in her room.

I started off by painting the whole thing gray, using an acrylic paint I had. Then I painted the roof with Coal Shimmerz Paints, and the house itself with the Flashee Fuschia. I colored my mushrooms using Prismacolor markers, cut then down a smidge, and aligned them with the left side of the house. There are stickles in the center of each flower, and on the tip of the perch. I wrapped the perch in linen thread, for no particular reason, lol! The whole house is super shimmery irl 🙂

My mushroom images are from InStyle Stamps! Aren’t they adorable?

Chocolate Treats

pad_chocolate-treats_tbuI made this card using Pez-a-Doodle stamps, because I was in the mood for some chocolate yummeis and we didn’t have any! So, I was forced to make my own, lol. I colored each treat with Cipcs, and then painted the pink Layer with Pink Poinsetta Shimmerz Blingz.  Then I did the Strawberries with Shimmerz Royal Red Paint. I applied some Dew Drops in strategic places, and tied a big ole’ bow (that’s how we say it in the South – bwahahahahaha) across the bottom. And since I can’t eat I’ve just been staring at it for hours. I think I need help, lol.

A Few Lizzie Anne Pics of Tutti Fruity

lad_cherrybookmark_tbuFirst up is a little “Cherry-o” Bookmark. I made a whole bunch of thee (ok, 5) because our bookmark stash was getting terribly low. The cherries are painted with Royal Red stickles, coffee for the stems, and olive for the leaf. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. If you are looking for a sweet, fun, and easy gift, I’d vote for bookmarks in a minute! We are constantly misplacing them, or they get crazy worn. or the bookmark monster (cousin to the sock monster that lives in dryers) eats them.

lad_chocolatepie_tbuNext up is some yummy chocolate pie.  I reliaze the intent for this set was fruits so int theory this should be an orange, lemon or lime. But I was in the mood for chocolate when I made it, so that’s what I made! No one ever turns down chocolate pie!

lad_goodapple_tbu To make up for my lust for pie, I next made a green apple card. Can’t get any healthier, right? I really think this card is quite cheerful – I love the bright colors on it! And the dew drops – I think I might be slighlt obsessed with them, lol. I wonder if there is a group for that. Hmmmmm……

Well, that is all blabbermouth me has to say today. You are shocked, I know – just one post, not too many words. But I did cram 3 pics into my post, so that should count for something!

If you can, leave me a comment and tell me which one is your favorite! I’m always interested in other peopes opinions. The pie is my favorite, lol. I’m sure there is *no* surprise in that!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Friday!!!

School Days….and Blog Candy!

jbe_jbe040_tbuCan I just start this off by saying how difficult it was to narrow down the choices for this week’s Jacksonbelle Embellishments challenge? We CASE-d another DT member this week – Kim over at Sunshiny Days. Talk about one talented lady!!! *whew* I get really nervous when I have to case members of any design team, lol! I drooled over her blog (literally – she has some tasty treats on there, too!) for at least an hour before I settled on a card to case. I chose the card from the post titled Riley Sketch, and it is from last Thursday.

hsc54-k17Here is what her adorable card looks like! How cute is the little book reading Riley? I love it! For my card, I changed up the color scheme a little bit – rather than Chocolate Chip I used Tangerine Tango, and rather than circular Nesties I went with the Labels Two set. Also, I used the Lizzie Anne Designs set called School Days. I used Fancy Pants dp, from their About a Boy line. I just love the rich colors in these papers! I colored my little guy and his books with Prismacolor markers as well as Copics. The apple is popped up on a dimensional, and painted with Royal Red Shimmerz. The books have Pixie Dust Shimmerz Blingz on them – so sparkly irl! I used twill ribbon purchased from Jacksonbelle, but it looks like it is out of stock right now. Stalk her though – she’ll get it back, lol! In the top right corner where Kim placed brads, I put clear epoxy stickers – I love the way they magnify the stripes! Please play along with us this week – the keyword if you upload to SCS is JBE040.

Now, on to the blog candy! Be honest – that is the only reason you are still here, lol! I’m giving away $25 worth of Jacksonbelle products! How fun is that?! I picked out an assortment of Webster’s Pages, Fancy Pants Papers, and Shimmerz for someone to win! Isn’t that exciting?!?!?! All you have to do is play along with us this week. Except I’ll be even more open – pick any member of the Jacksonbelle Design Team and CASE one of our cards. Post a link back here (either to the card on your blog or to an online gallery) in the comment section, and I will draw a random winner! If you upload your card to SCS, use the keyword JBE040A, so I know it is for the extra challenge I’ve issued (and if it happens to be one of Kim’s card’s you’ve cased, use both keywords).

You have until next Monday night – February 23rd – at 8:00 EST to link your creations here. Please be sure to give credit where it is due, and say who you CASE-d!! I’ll anounce the winner next Tuesday, when we do our next Jacksonbelle Challenge! Have fun stamping! And don’t forget to stop by the Jacksonbelle Blog, where Kim has created an awesome tutorial for you this week! Links to the other DT members are on my right sidebar – so go leave some love!

It’s a {Little Paper Shop} Sneak Peek!

lps_blingedouthedgie_tbuThis is Happy Hedgehog, or “Hedgie” as I have affectionately nicknamed mine, lol. He is one of this month’s new releases from {Little Paper Shop}. Cutie Patootie, isn’t he? Today also happens to be the monthly {Little Paper Shop} Design Team challenge, and here is what Jessica dreamed up for us this month:

You guys KNOW I love my bling…so the LPSDT challenge for Feb. is to “Bling it on!” All you have to do is add a little sparkle, glitz and glamour to your fabulous creations! Easy Peasy!

Well, I can do bling. I *love* bling! But for Hedgie, no bling but Shimmerz seemed right.  So I got out my stash and went to work!

lps_blingedouthedgiecloseup_tbu Hedgie himslef is painted with Coffee colored Shimmerz Paint. I used the new Shimmerz Blingz in Flashy Fuchsia to paint his hat, and Hi Ho Silver for the polka dots, as well as the fuzzy ball on the end of the hat and the stripes on his litttle party blower. The streamers are also Flashy Fuchsia.  I got out my Olive Shimmerz Paint to create some Grass, and December Sky for the Sky. I applied that in a round motion, so it looks like a sky, with some clouds. On the sentiment panel, I used Angel Wings Shimmerz Blingz to just put a light coat over it. You can clearly see the sentiment, “Surprise” stamped under it in Memento Tuxedo Black.

My card base is Purely Pomegranate (SU). My large panel is some awesome corrugated paper that ahs a golden brassy sheen to it – it was a RAK from a friend. My brads are all sparkly – they are Spare Parts brads from Hobby Lobby. To finish it off, I tied some light pink organdy ribbon edged in gold around the top. I’m pretty pleased with this one – you should see how it shines irl!!!

Be sure to stop by the {Little Paper Shop} blog to check out other creations by the talented ladies on the DT!

Sugar Shack!

usc_usc22_tbuThis week’s Unity challenge came from Carole, and it was hard for me! She challenged us to use a non-Valentine’s stamp in a Valentine way – plus add a button and some ribbon! Aaaaackkk! I thought and I pondered and I picked through my stamps and came up with a million plans and chucked them out the window. And then I thought of this – I love this little house from Love, Etc. –  the January Kit of the Month. And I hadn’t even inked it up! The horror! So, I went in search of the perfect dp and found this piece, sent to me by Lindsey over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. It is non-Valentine-ish, so I figured it went with my theme. Plus. I *love* it, so I knew I was headed in the right direction.

usc_usc22close_tbuI colored my image with Copics and smothered it with Shimmerz and Shimmerz Blingz. You can never have too much shimmer, right? RIGHT???? I added photo corners on the right side of the card, accented with White Opal Liquid Pearls, and used that again above and under my sentiment. My little button is a Doodlebug holdover that has been in my stash forever – he is so thrilled to have gotten a new twist with some liquid pearls! I used my cropadile to put a jumbo eyelet on, threaded some ribbon through it, and walked away. I figured if I came back and looked at it and hated it, I’d start over again. But I actually like it. Different for me, but different is good!

Be sure to check out the other super talented ladies’ blogs — links are on the right sidebar. Have a terrific Wednesday!

CASE-ing Michelle

jbe_jbe038_tbuToday’s Jacksonbelle challenge was a tall order – case a card by Michelle! Holy toads! Have you SEEN how awesome her work is???? That girlie is an amazing artist, and it took me a week to figure out what to do. So long, in fact, that I actually had to whip up something last minute, lol. So, here is my humble try at being as fantabulous as Michelle is! My card is 4.25″ square. I did this because I am planning to leave little notes for DH all over the place for Valentine’s Day (I jut spoiled the surprise – he reads this, lol) and I wanted to make a few smaller cards to tuck away places. I used Prima dp – it’s called “Together” and it is from the Romantica collection. I got it forever ago at Jacksonbelle’s – she keeps the coolest collections of paper in stock! I used my curvy labels one nesties for the large square, and my circle nesties for the other layers. elzy-release-013

My stamps are from the newly released Lizzie Anne Designs set called So Much Love. I adore this heart!!! I colored it with copic Markers, and on the red hearts I added some Royal Red Shimmerz for a bit of added wowza. Sadly, I have no bear – but tht’s ok!I added a few extra Dew Drops to my card, and more dots along the nesties’ borders with a black marker. I don’t know that I did Michelle’s gorgeous card (shown to the left, image courtesy of her blog) the proper justice, but I do think mine is cute! I like that it turned out masculine enough for my DH. Although, it is still girlie enough for me!

October Afternoon

jbe_jbe036book_tbuToday over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments we are highlighting the fabulous products made by October Afternoon. And if you’ve never seen or used anything by them – you are totally missing out! Oh my goodness this stuff rocks!!!! What I’ve got to show you is a chipboard book my Melissa Frances that I bought from Jacksonbelle ages ago – she has some way cute ones in stock now from Basic Grey!. Isn’t the semi circle shape just the cutest thing?! For once, I’ve managed to start early on a project – this is going to a mother or mother-n-law (I have 2 of each, lol) for Valentine’s Day. I thought I’d put some cute pictures of my daughter in it. You can’t go wrong with that!

jbe_jbe036closeup_tbuI started by painting the whole book pink with acrylic paint. I didn’t worry too much about getting it on the coils, because I knew I’d be adding ribbon. I alos painted the outer edges of the paper pink as well – just remember not to let them get stuck together! It looks super cute. I took a piece of October Afternoon dp, from the Daydream line – called Rainboots, and cut it into a semi circle . Once I adhered it I used my Basic Grey sanding kit to file the edges, and the surface of the paper itself. It turned out nice and aged. I stamped my large flower, from the October Afternoon set called For the Record,  on watercolor paper, and painted it with Shimmerz. I used Olive paint on the leaves, Hottie Pink Blingz for the flower centers, and Pink Poinsetta Blingz for the petals. I cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals. I also painted the stamped floral image on the dp with Shimmerz. Above that, I stamped the word “Memories” in Versafine Black ink.

I tied pink grosgrain ribbon around every coil, cutting it at various lengths. And that is all I have to show you about this little album today – it is an ogoing process! As I get more accomplished, I’ll be sharing it here! Feedback is totally welcome – how do you think it looks so far? Be sure to checkout the Jacksonbelle Blog for other fun projects, and check out the DT member’s blogs as well! (links on right side)

It’s Tea Time!

lps_jantent_tbuOk, I’m a bit behind! I should have shown you this adorable set yesterday, when it was time for its sneak peek. But this week has gotten the better of me, lol, and I just didn’t have time to make a card! So, let me introduce you to Tea Time, the newest release from {Little Paper Shop}!!!!! Isn’t it darling???? Now, my dear friend Jessica is going to be after me for not giving this set the “Alice treatment”, lol — it does totally remind me of Alice in Wonderland. But the colors didn’t match the paper, you see — so plans had to change!

It just so happens that today, which is release day for the stamp sets, is also the day of the {Little Paper Shop} DT’s monthly challenge! And guess who got to do the first challenge of the New Year? The newbie member – me! I asked everyone to make a tent card using one of the new release images that we’ve shown you this week. To see everyone’s use the links on the right of my blog to hop on over to their blogs to check them out! To see the cards the DT created using the Tea Time set in particular, go to the {Little Paper Shop} blog to see them!

Now, y’all are probably sick to death of me and my new love affair with Shimmerz, but I don’t care!!!! I painted her dress with Pink Poinsetta Shimmerz Blingz, her hair with the brand new Shimmerz Blingz Pixie Dust, the teapot and cups with the brand new Shimmerz Blingz Hottie Pink, and the grass with Olive Shimmerz paint. I watercolored it all first, though. Because my Prima Peaches paper (which, btw, is on sale — a 6×6 pad for $2.79 at Jacksonbelle Embellishments!)was kind of busy, I tried to go easy  on the embellies – just a few flowers. In the center of the smallest green ones, I dotted some Crystal Stickles.

A Jacksonbelle Challenge….

jbe_jbe035_tbuThis week the JBelle’s were challenged to use new things, since it is close to the start of a new year. I had a hard time picking out what goodies I wanted to use!! I finally settled on some super yummy Granola Paper by Basic Grey, and the new October Afternoon set, Detours, that came in the mail today.  Man I love these colors, and these October Afternon stamps!

I don’t know if it is possible to tell in this picture, but the bunny, bird, and tree leaves are all painted with the new Shimmerz Blingz, Pixie Dust. It is awesome!!!! I purposely tried to leave my inages a little “colorwashed” and not stamped clearly, to mirror the distressed image of the paper. I rock and rolled the tree in Tea Stain and Walnut distress ink.  I added some tan twill ribbon, and left the rest of the card simple – so I can try to pass it off as masculine, lol!

Another New Release …and it’s Twinkling Tuesday!

lps_mttsc5_tbuI love the combo deal – who doesn’t? It is so fantastic when I can combine two challenges, or projects, into one! This adroable set is the second new release this month from {Little Paper Shop}, and it is called Puppy Love. How sweet is he??? I love the upturned head, looking towards what’s going on in the world — too sweet!

I combined this cutie patootie with this week’s wonderful sketch by Madelynn. I missed last week’s Twinkling Tuesday, and felt terrible about it. So NO WAY was I missing it this week! I did flip the sentiment to the other side of the card, but other than that I stayed essentially true to her sketch. Thanks again for being so creative, Madelynn!

For some details about my card: the base is River Rock and my dp is from Prima – the Romantica Collection. My mat layer is Kiwi Kiss, and my image panel is Naturals Ivory. I colored the butterfly and bumblebee wings with Angel Wings Shimmerz Painted, and popped them up on dimensionals. I also colored teh puppy and the bee with Copics. The grass is a stamp from the set, accented with some Olive Shimmerz Paint. And then I hand drew some clouds using December Sky Shimmerz Paint. (I have ALOT of love for Shimmerz Paint, okay????lol) Threw on some Dew Drops and just sat back to adore this puppy – I really do think he is too stinkin’ cute 🙂

Stop by the {Little Paper Shop} blog to see what the other girls have created, or use the links at the right to blurf on over to their blogs!

The Last of My Lizzie Anne Sneak Peeks!

lad_passiontattoo_tbu1I wanted to make a “different” Valentine’s Day card – kind of sweet and saucy, lol. So I figured I’d try combining the way cool new Love Tattoo with one of the sweetest sentiments evah for Valentine’s Day. My husband likes it – I’m not sold.  I love the look of the tattoo on the gray cardstock – I think it is a great stamp. And I like the sentiment stamped on actetate on top of the sort of wild paper. I’m just not sure I like it all together, lol. Well – that’s what you do when you stamp – you experiment. I did want to at least sow you the card, so you could see the fabulous new singles from LAD!

This second card uses the new Damask set – ooooh it is scrumptious! I didn’t use and dp on theis one, because you just don’t need to! I loved distressing the top two panels – I think it is a great look with this set. I see lots of sets of gift cards in the future with these gorgeous stamps!

lad_shimmeredhearts_tbuMy last card of the day is a little out of the box for me! Square cards are a rarity (I know – I made one last week, lol – I’m tring to make more!).  I love the shabby feel of this ancy Pants dp, and I think this new set, So Much Love, lends itself well to the shaby. So I got out a chipboard heart, and rubbed some Guava ink on it. Then I go out some Shimmerz Paint and glammed it up! I added the sweet little birds, the dotted lines, and the wonderful sentiment in brown stazon ink, and thought the card as done. Afer 15 minutes of saring a it, I decided it needed some dew drops – all cards do, lol. I *really* like this card!I might save it for my DH for Valentine’s Day. He’ll forget he saw it by then (sorry, honey!)

Don’t forget to go by the LAD blog to check out full pics of all the new sets, and the ones I haven’t previewed — they are awesome! Also, they have links to the other DT members (on the right sideabr here as well) and deets about tonight’s forum party!!!!!
