A Card for My Love

This week is exceptionally busy for my husband – he is the assistant manager of a bookstore, and they are in the process of moving from an old location to a brand new one. And this week all of the new merchandise is being shipped in to fill the store. So that means chaos, longer hours, and less family time.

When I saw the colors that the guest host, Julie (reneejul1, who has an awesome blog – check it out!), posted for today’s color combination challenge I knew it would be perfect for a card for him. It did take me all darn day to get to stamp, though. I made myself clean, reorganize, do laundry — boooooooring chores – first.

When he called to say he was leaving, I knew I’d better get going. The drive takes him about 45 minutes. I dug into my scrap drawer to see what pieces I had, and there I unearthed the Always Artichoke panel and the two Bordering Blue ones. I didn’t even have to cut them – they were the perfect size! I used Not Quite Navy for my card base, and cut a piece of Mellow Moss for the largest panel. On it, I used the Leaves a la Carte jumbo wheel, with Always Artichoke ink. The two Bordering Blue panels I ran through my Cuttlebug and sponged with NQN ink. Next, I used the jumbo wheel again on the Artichoke panel. For my image panel, I stamped hearts from Love Matters in Mellow Moss ink on Confetti Cream paper cardstock. I used NQN to stamp the word “Love”, and colored it in with an Artichoke marker. I sponged the edges with Artichoke ink. I added “the best is yet to come”, stamped in Bordering Blue, on a large punched oval mounted on dimensionals.

To finish the card, I tied a piece of grosgrain ribbon at the top. My husband was noticeably touched when he got home, and it was great to bring a smile to his face at the end of a long day.
