A Unity Get Well

usc_usc25getwell_tbuThis week’s Unity Addicts Challenge was to make a Get Well card. I used the SO and So Loves stamp, and in the spot where you can write on it I wrote Get Well Soon XOXOXOXO. I colored my image with Copics and used Stickles to color the hearts. Do you think a recipient will like it? Thee challenges are so fun to participate in! If you make one and upload it to SCS, the keyword is USC25!!

It’s Twinkling Tuesday! (post #1 for today)

usc_mttsc11_tbuThis week, instead of doing a sketch challenge, Miss Madelynn had a little inspiration piece for us. I took from it my color scheme, and that’s about it, lol. But since I never use Rose Red, this was a big leap for me! I used the February Unity Kit of the Month, Endings and Beginnings, on this card. I love their Kits of the Month!! I also lucked out and had a tiny butterfly charm that matched, so that was awesome 🙂 I tied it with my knot in my ribbon, and adhered a dimensional to the back of it, so it would staymttsc11 where I wanted it! I am a fan of this caard, because it turned out rather simple, and I love simple. Didn’t take long to make at all!

Isn’t the inspiration mug the most darling thing? I loved it as soon as I saw it! And I can totally see why Miss Madelynn loves it too! It actually belongs to her mom and to me, it just screams Jessica! Be sure to visit the Twinkling Tuesdays blog to see the featured stamper this week, and visit all the other Twinklettes’ blogs by clicking on the links on the right side of my blog! It is so much fun to do these fun things with friends each week – I’m so happy to be part  of this talented team of ladies! It has been fun getting to know people I didn’t know before this started!

Inspiration Gone Askew

usc_usc24_tbuLet me start by saying that I love this card. Really, I do. I think it is fun, and bright, and cheery, and will make someone smile. So to the end, I captured the spirit of the inspiration piece for today’s Unity Challenge. But other than that – not a hint of the picture can be found in my card, lol. Oh well! Sometimes you start in one direction and end up somewhere totally different – but the journey sure was fun!

I have totally been in love with square cards as of late – I don’t know why. I’ve never really made them at all. But suddenly, every card that shows up in my head is square, lol. So thanks for hanging in through my “square phase”.  I used both the December and January Unity Kits of the Month for this card. I have to admit, I am in love with this “Whateva” sentiment. It is just….perfect. Come to think of it, most Unity stamps are!

tulipsI used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp my images, and Copics to color them. The card itself is pretty darn simple – I did sponge and distress the edges of the peacock panel. The little tassels were on clearance at (yuck) Wal Mart and I couldn’t pass them up.

My dp is from Jacksonbelle Embelllishments. It is the Vivid pattern from the About a Boy line. It is fabulous, and I need to own more of it. Remember to check this post below, because I am giving some away! All you have to do is CASE a member of the Jacksonbelle team, and link your creation back to this post from yesterday. If you win, you get a prize package wirth $25 of goodies that I picked out for you!

While we are talking about Jacksonbelle Embellishments (lol, nice segue, huh?) head on over to the blog today! We have a very helpful chart created by one of our very own DT members. It is designed to simplify your life with Shimmerz! Plus, you can find out which Shimmez are the DT’s favorites!

Ok everyone – have a wonderful Wednesday! Thanks so much for stopping by – I hope your day is filled with happiness and joy!

Sugar Shack!

usc_usc22_tbuThis week’s Unity challenge came from Carole, and it was hard for me! She challenged us to use a non-Valentine’s stamp in a Valentine way – plus add a button and some ribbon! Aaaaackkk! I thought and I pondered and I picked through my stamps and came up with a million plans and chucked them out the window. And then I thought of this – I love this little house from Love, Etc. –  the January Kit of the Month. And I hadn’t even inked it up! The horror! So, I went in search of the perfect dp and found this piece, sent to me by Lindsey over at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. It is non-Valentine-ish, so I figured it went with my theme. Plus. I *love* it, so I knew I was headed in the right direction.

usc_usc22close_tbuI colored my image with Copics and smothered it with Shimmerz and Shimmerz Blingz. You can never have too much shimmer, right? RIGHT???? I added photo corners on the right side of the card, accented with White Opal Liquid Pearls, and used that again above and under my sentiment. My little button is a Doodlebug holdover that has been in my stash forever – he is so thrilled to have gotten a new twist with some liquid pearls! I used my cropadile to put a jumbo eyelet on, threaded some ribbon through it, and walked away. I figured if I came back and looked at it and hated it, I’d start over again. But I actually like it. Different for me, but different is good!

Geisha Anya and a Unity Challenge

usc-usc20peterpan_tbuHere is one of the bokmarks I made for today’s Untiy Addicts Challenge. The challenge was to make a bookmark based on a favorite book from when you were a child, or now. Well, my munchkin and I watched Peter Pan today, and it remind me of how very much I love J.M. Barrie’s original Peter Pan. So…here’s the super simple version! I chose my colors based on Peter’s outfit – the light and dark green, and the red for the fetaher in his cap. I stamped the flourish from Growing In Unity and then outlined it with my Sakura gelly roll pen. I chose to put the word “time” at the bottom because I think that is a central them to the book, lol. The stitches are from Wendy sewing his shadows back on. Thanks for the great challenge, Maria – I have needed to replenish my book mark stash! Feel free to play along – check this thread over on SCS to find where to post your creations!

tgf_mttsc6geishaanya_tnuNext I just have to share Geisha Anya in Yellow with you! My sketch is based on Madelynn’s Twinkling Tuesday sketch – I know that means I should have posted this yesterday, but it was only in my head – not on paper, lol! Geisha Anya is a digistamp available at The Greeting Farm (formerly Pink Poison) – isn’t she just adorable!!??!?! Well, I love her because I love all things asian! I took my color scheme from the Prima Eire dp.

mttsc6So my base is Garden Green, my next panel is More Mustard, and my next Panel is Cranberry Crisp. Madelynn didn’t say the card was supposed to be square, but I’m sure she understands that some of us just have to tweak things a bit – I was in the mood for square! I ticket punched several corners, and added green dew drops to them – to follow the rules of the sketch. I also added ribbon down the right side (it is dark green, I promise!) and a Prima centered with a whole bunch f green dew drops. I really really really love dew drops!!

Thanks Madelyn, for yet another week of awesome inspiration – you rock girlie! I’m so happy your mom chose me to be part of this fun team of ladies who get to participate in your sketch every week! If anyone else out there would like to play along, we have a group over at Papercraft Planet – please feel free to join us, and have some fun chatting and playing with sketches!

If you upload you card to SCS or PPC, please use the keyword MTTSC6, so we can find your awesome work to drool over it! Have a Happy Wednesday!

Unity Addicts Challenge – Post #1 for Wednesday :)

usc_gandhiflowers_tbuThis week’s Unity Addicts challenge was simple. Seriously simple, and I loved it! It came from Kim, and I thought it was a fabulous idea – just what I needed – to make something simple!

A card base (you can layer if you like), an image and/or sentiment, and one embellishment.
My card base is Pirouette Pink, My paper is Basic Grey LilyKate, my sentiment is one of my all time favorite sayings stamped in Brown Stazon, and my gorgeous flower is a Prima I bought from Jacksonbelle Embellishments forever ago 🙂  The whole card took less than ten minutes, and I just think it is stunning! I Just Love the Chickies!

usc_birdienotepad_tbuI am *so* addicted to these little birdies that were part of the November Unity kit – I can’t stop using them!!!!!  I need to start this post by admitting that I totally stole this idea from Bethany, over at It’s Not All Black and White. She made the cutest notepad, and made it look soooo easy!

And shockingly, even for someone challenged like me, it was!! I’m giving this one to a friend at the office as part of her Christmas present. And I’m going to make several more for stocking stuffers for the family. So thanks for the idea, Bethany!
