God Bless the USA

LAD_GodBlessThe USA_tbuOhmygosh! Have you SEEN the new Stars and Stripes digital paper and stamp singles of the month from Lizzie Anne Designs???? I’m in love!! For this sweet little card, I just printed out a piece of the patterned dp, and a piece of the solid red, which is designed to make matching totally easy (and it does!). I stamped my image on GP White cardstock, and layered it a red mat. Then I popped it up on monstrous pop dots, added a star for some bling, and a mini clothespin for cuteness.

I must say, Lizzie Anne is really getting me into digital paper. I was skittish at first, but I love the way it turns out! You should definitely go check all of their’s out – they are so much fun!

It’s Color Monday Time Again!

CPCM_CM08_tbuThis is for today’s Color Monday challenge on the Christian Paper Crafts Magazine site. I love this combo of chocolate, navy, and ivory!!

For my card, I used a base of Chocolate Chip, a layer of Not Quite Navy, and a layer of Very Vanilla. I topped it off with a pice of Basic Grey dp, from their Periphery line. I stamped my cross, from Our Daily Bread Designs, in Chocolate Chip. I stamped my sentiment in Not Quite Navy, and used Nesties to cut everything out. At the top, I added Not Quite Navy brads, and under the sentiment (from Stampin Up)I put two pieces of chocolate grosgrain ribbon.

What? I can’t color anything??? (post #2 for today)

pad_softflowerwindow_tbuThat is exactly what I thought when Marti issued this challenge! How on earth was I going to make a card without my Copics, or Prismacolors???? Well, what I came up with is one of my all-time favorite cards! It is nice to be forced outside of my comfort zone every now and then!

Everything on my card, except the Cuttlebug folder, came from Pez-a-Doodle Designs. They have SUCH fabulous shopping!

I started by sponging Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Aged Mahogany onto the piece I Cuttlebugged. Then I added a little Tea Stain on top of that. My flower box is also done the same way. I used the Inkssentials blending tool for my sponging – I love that thing! I stamped the window on a different piece of cardstock in Walnut Stain, and sponged Tea Stain to “color” it. I cut the window and the flower box out and lined them up so I could use a variety of Adirondack Inks (Pesto, Meadow, and Watermelon) to stamp the flowers. The window panes are covered with Ranger Gossy Accents, which had the effect of slightly softening the lines of the stamps – I love the way the flowers turned out!

Once the glossy accents dried, I adhered the whole thing together. And seriously, I love how soft and pretty it is! Oh – I forgot to tell you what awesome stamp line these stamps came from!! They are brand new Flower Soft stamps! Marti has an amazing selection of Flower Soft products at awesome prices!

It’s Twinkling Tuesday! (post #1 for today)

usc_mttsc11_tbuThis week, instead of doing a sketch challenge, Miss Madelynn had a little inspiration piece for us. I took from it my color scheme, and that’s about it, lol. But since I never use Rose Red, this was a big leap for me! I used the February Unity Kit of the Month, Endings and Beginnings, on this card. I love their Kits of the Month!! I also lucked out and had a tiny butterfly charm that matched, so that was awesome 🙂 I tied it with my knot in my ribbon, and adhered a dimensional to the back of it, so it would staymttsc11 where I wanted it! I am a fan of this caard, because it turned out rather simple, and I love simple. Didn’t take long to make at all!

Isn’t the inspiration mug the most darling thing? I loved it as soon as I saw it! And I can totally see why Miss Madelynn loves it too! It actually belongs to her mom and to me, it just screams Jessica! Be sure to visit the Twinkling Tuesdays blog to see the featured stamper this week, and visit all the other Twinklettes’ blogs by clicking on the links on the right side of my blog! It is so much fun to do these fun things with friends each week – I’m so happy to be part  of this talented team of ladies! It has been fun getting to know people I didn’t know before this started!

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a really terrific Tuesday!

Inspiration Gone Askew

usc_usc24_tbuLet me start by saying that I love this card. Really, I do. I think it is fun, and bright, and cheery, and will make someone smile. So to the end, I captured the spirit of the inspiration piece for today’s Unity Challenge. But other than that – not a hint of the picture can be found in my card, lol. Oh well! Sometimes you start in one direction and end up somewhere totally different – but the journey sure was fun!

I have totally been in love with square cards as of late – I don’t know why. I’ve never really made them at all. But suddenly, every card that shows up in my head is square, lol. So thanks for hanging in through my “square phase”.  I used both the December and January Unity Kits of the Month for this card. I have to admit, I am in love with this “Whateva” sentiment. It is just….perfect. Come to think of it, most Unity stamps are!

tulipsI used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp my images, and Copics to color them. The card itself is pretty darn simple – I did sponge and distress the edges of the peacock panel. The little tassels were on clearance at (yuck) Wal Mart and I couldn’t pass them up.

My dp is from Jacksonbelle Embelllishments. It is the Vivid pattern from the About a Boy line. It is fabulous, and I need to own more of it. Remember to check this post below, because I am giving some away! All you have to do is CASE a member of the Jacksonbelle team, and link your creation back to this post from yesterday. If you win, you get a prize package wirth $25 of goodies that I picked out for you!

While we are talking about Jacksonbelle Embellishments (lol, nice segue, huh?) head on over to the blog today! We have a very helpful chart created by one of our very own DT members. It is designed to simplify your life with Shimmerz! Plus, you can find out which Shimmez are the DT’s favorites!

Ok everyone – have a wonderful Wednesday! Thanks so much for stopping by – I hope your day is filled with happiness and joy!

Finally – The Perfect Pear!

lad_mttsc10_tbuHere is my card for this week’s Twinkling Tuesday sketch. I just love this Tutti Fruity set from Lizzie Anne Designs! The gorgeous ribbon was a RAK from my friend Jimmi and I based my whole card around it! I was definitely in the mood for some bright, cheery colors this morning when I made this! I’m so excited that my bow came out smashingly fab, because of this awesome video tutorial by Amy Rysavy. Normally, I completely lack bow tying skills. But this is the second card I’ve done this week using her approach, and they look so purdy! I’m super excited. I bet I’ve watched the video a million times, though, lol.

mttsc10I am having so much fun participating in these weekly sketch challenges! Many thanks to Madelynn, who drew this one! I think you are a creative genius in the making, Madelynn! Be sure to check out the blogs of the other girls on the Twinkle Team (links on right sidebar) and check out the Twinkling Tuesday blog! And if you have time, stop by the Lizzie Anne Designs Blog – there is a sweet little purple ballerina over there!  Have a fabulous evening, everyone!

It’s an Exciting Friday Announcement!

pad_distresscupcakeframe_tnuI’m so excited to finally be able to share with you all that I am the newest member of the Pez-a Doodle Design Team! *YAY*!!!! If you’ve never visited the store, you totally should! Wait, I’m getting ahead of myself, lol. First let me tell you about today’s project! I took an dollar store wooden frame that was originally baby blue, and painted it with Tim Holtz Distress Paint, in the Peeled Paint Color. And holy toads does she stock a ton of different colors of these paints! I applied two coats, for extra crackle, because I love the super shabby look. When it was all dry, I rubbed Tea Stain ink on it to age it a bit, and to rub off some of the paint so the blue showed through.

You see, this started out as a Valentine’s Day project for my husband. But once I decided to put the cupcake image in there, I knew I was keeping it, lol. The actual picture size is 3×3, so I cut a piece of Pretty in Pink cardstock to fit that, and then a piece of Basic Grey Eva to be that mat.I layered another piece of the Pretty in Pink, and adhered a cupcake stamped in Versafine ink on Confetti White cs and colored with Copics – scrumdiddlyumptios, don’tcha think? The darling embellie on the corner of the frame came from Marti over at Pez-a-Doodle, and I have a feeling someone made that little cutie by hand! sn’t it darling?!?! I put some pretty pink crocheted ribbon up top, and gave the frame a place of honor on my desk. I love it!

Ok, back to how great Pez-a-Doodle Designs is! My cupcake image came from their exclusive Polka Dot Pie stamp line. This particular image is from Chocolate Treats #1 and I swear I wanna eat it! Marti just got back from CHA, and is bringing tons of new stuff into the store. And you now what that means – almost everything currently in the store is on sale! So be sure to go chck that out! Guess what just arrived???? FLOWER SOFT!! I am so excited I could burst! I cannot wait to get my hands on this stuff!

I’m so thrilled to be joining this talented group of ladies at such an exciting time for the store. I can’t wait to show y’all some of the other stuff I’ve made, and to try out new goodies and show them to you! Be sure and check out the Pez-a Doodle blog as well as the blogs of the other DT members – Catherine, Christine, and Robin.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!
