Happy Birthday to the Queen!!!

QKD_BirthdayBlogHop_tbuIt’s Vicki’s birthday today, so we all thought we’d get together and do a birthday blog hop for her! Thanks to everyone who joined me from Nina’s blog! Now, if you’ll join me for a rousing rendition:

Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday , dear Vicki,

Happy Birthday to you!!!!!

We sounded great, didn’t we? Ok, I may have been a little off key, but I tried hard, lol! I made this card for Vicki’s birthday because the crown is what she wears (She is Queen Kat after all) and she is a wonderful person 🙂 Mean as heck if you make her mad, but truly one of the sweetest people I know! Be sure to head on over to Tina’s Blog for some more Birthday Hop goodness, check the QKD Blog for more fun shenanigans, and go to the store for an amazing sale!

A Birthday LPS Card

LPS_NJBday_tbuI made this card for my daighter to give to my husband’s grandfather on his 80th birthday, because, well, its tru! Even though they are actually her great-grandparents, the do always have time, patience, and most importantly to my three year od, candy.

We had a lovely party this weekend for the occasion of his 80th, and my daughter charmed them all with her stirring speech (loudly declaring her love for him to the gathered crowd of about 70 people). Way to go kiddo!

It is exceedingly simple – nesties, a corner rounder, some dp and ribbon. Nothing too special, except the feelings behind it. And that is how a handmade card should be, I think. All about the feelings behind it.

Sparkly Pezzycake!

pad_pezzycake_tbuOk,  is my love of Stickles obvious? I am thrilled with how well their sparkle is captured in this picture! I colored the cake with Copics, and then used Fruit Punch Stickles to “ice” the icing, lol. The platter and Pezzy are both Stickled out using Crystal Stickles. My sentiment looks messy on purpose – this one is for a frazzled mom, so she’ll get it!

What I love about the Pezzy Stamps is their size. I love a good image I can really color, and bling up. I also love the embellies I used on this card — aren’t they fab? I am pretty sure the hearts are handmade by Marti – yes you read that right! Also, the little squares at the bottom – HOW FUN ARE THEY??? Everyone should have some!!!!!

I’ve got some exciting news today, also – Pez-a-Doodle Designs is welcoming new designers to the team!!! Check out my sidebar and go visit them! Congrats to the new team members! This is a great team to join 🙂

And in more exciting news, good stuff is cookin’ up at Pez-A-Doodle this month, so don’t go far!!!!taylorsig

An Etsy Inspired Saturday

sunnybirthday1This week’s Etsy shop was TR Mack Studio whhich is full of excellent prints. They all have such brilliant colors and movement to them! My choice was easy though, because I had alread picked this card out for my stepmom’s birthday (the paper, I mean).

So away I went with the Lizzie Anne Damask set, lots of colored pens, Red Riding Hood ink, and a sponge. I don’t know that I captured the spirit of my inspiration piece – but this sure was a fun card to make!

Be sure to check out the other girls’ blogs for their awesome inspiration – the eaasiet place for the list is here, at Heart HugsDesigns. And a huge thanks to Marti at Pez-a-Doodle Designs for sponsoring this challenge! The awesome prize this week is a $20 gift certificate for ANYTHING in the Pez-A-Doodle shop! Ack! I would be like a kid in a candy store! You can also check out the Pez-A-Doodle blog for updates and fun challenges! Not only that, but Marti is giving you ALL a coupon code for 10% off your purchase!! Just use coupon code: etsy10.

It’s {Little Paper Shop} Monday Again!

lps_birthdayhedgie_tbuThis is the card I made for my little brother’s 25th birthday last wek. He’s getting so old – which means I’m getting older! *Yikes*!!!! I used the Happy Hedgehog new release from {Little Paper Shop} for his card – doesn’t he look like he is having the best time? I colored hime with a combination of Copic and Prismacolor markers. My dp is from the “About a Boy” line by Fancy Pants. I hope he liked his card!

Birthday Bird

I must know a zillion people (okay, I’m exaggerating slightly) that have a birthday in May. I am trying to get a jump on the cards I know I need to mail out. So far, I’ve made…one! I’m a bit slow, okay??

The inspiration for this color combo came from the fabulous dp, which is by Me & My Big Ideas. I got the whole pad on clearance at Michael’s awhile back. The card base is Bashful Blue, The large accent panel is Real Red, and the small mat is Old Olive. I stamped my image and sentiment on textured (no SU) watercolor paper (with Versafine Black ink) and colored it with ink and aquapainters.

I added *bling* to the bottom of the image panel (but noticed when I took the picture that one side had slipped a bit – I have fixed it now!) and to the center of one of the circle designs on the dp (bottom corner). The other circles all had red dots in the middle, so I left them alone. Click on the picture for a better view of the dp!

I think this is a fun card, and I hope it makes the birthday girl smile!

Stamps: Inkadinkado – Bird Assortment
Paper: Bashful Blue, Real Red, Old Olive, non SU watercolor, My Mind’s Eye dp
Ink: Versafine black, Bashful Blue, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Accessories: aquapainter, mme bling, white gg ribbon, blue organdy ribbon
Techniques: watercoloring
