Shaken, Not Stirred

Can we talk about Unity Stamps for a minute?? THEY ROCK!! This set, Cocktail Party, had to be mine the second I saw it!!! My wishlist is like a mile long.  I’ve been thoroughly impressed with my whole Unity experience. And don’t you worry – I am soooooo getting more of these stamps!

This sketch is based on Beate’s Weekend Sketch #56. I did turn the sketch so that my card to be a vertical sketch, instead of a horizontal one. I like the way it turned out – I think I’ll use it again!

My drink has is covered in Stickles, for a little extra pizzaz — some days we all need that in our drink, lol!

Stamps: Cocktail Party (Unity)
Paper: So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss, Naturals Ivory
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss
Accessories: ribbon, felt prima, SU brad, stickles, nestabilities, paper piercer

Pirouette Moitfs

I was in the mood for a little pink and brown the other day. Here’s what I came up with! The large baroque stamp is done on the Pink Pirouette base using Pretty in Pink ink. The swirl from Carte Postale is done in Close to Cocoa ink.

The edges of the largest scalloped rectangle (which is Pink Pirouette) are sponged in Close to Cocoa. I sponged the edges of most of the layers, actually!

I also finally remembered to get out my Liquid Pearls, in White Opal. So pretty!

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Carte Postale
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa, Basic Grey dp – Blush
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: ribbon form Mike’s, Nestabilities (large rectangles, scalloped rectangles, ovals, scalloped ovals), dimensionals, sponge
Techniques: sponging

Hitchin’ A Ride

One day last week, my daughter declared she wanted a card made with red, brown, and green. And elephants. And monkeys. Not that she is demanding or anything! I turned her loose on my stash of SU cardstock, and she came up with this color combo. Actually, her first choice was Creamy Caramel, but she also liked this Prima dp and when I told her it didn’t match, she quickly switched gears. Matching is very important to her!

The elephant and monkey are stamped on Confetti Cream (I masked the elephant before stamping the monkey). Then I restamped the elephant, cut it out, and added it on top of the other elephant, for a bit of depth. The grass is just a scrap piece of Kiwi Kiss, cut into little strips. I added some Dew Drops – Fresh Mowed Grass has the perfect shades of green!

My sweet little one stood on the chair behind me, and supervised over my shoulder the entire time I worked on this. We had a blast – we laughed, and made some mistakes, and talked about all the things that fascinate three year olds. I love those special moments with her.

Links to the things I used on the card are listed below, in the deets. I’m going to try and remember to do that from now on, just to enable you!

Stamps: LAD Born to be Wild
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Prima dp
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Dew Drops (fresh mowed grass), cuttlebug (forest branches), large and small oval punches, sponges

New Feature – Scrappy Sundays

I’ve been reorganizing some things in my craft room, to make space for my new computer and some new small storage drawers I got. What I’ve discovered is that I have an embarrassingly large pile of scrap dp. It’s in three different spots. Which led me to this little plan of mine – I’m instituing Scrappy Sundays on my blog. Every Sunday I am going to feature a card I’ve made with scrap pieces of dp. And for bouns points, scrap pieces of cardstock, lol. If you’d like to play along, feel free. Just link to your card, wherever you upload it (Splitcoast or your blog) so we can all check it out. I hope this encourages you to use some scraps, too! My actual master plan is to use up the older scraps to make room for newer scraps, which in turn makes room for fresh new dp, which I love!

I made this card with a sentiment, Shine, from my very first order from Unity Stamp Company. Holy schnikes – these stamps are awesome!!!!!! I have a looooong wish list, and cannot wait to get more. This particular sentiment speaks to me on so many levels. I am planning to stamp and decorate something I can frame, and hang it in my office at work. I just love it. And the butterfly came free with my order – how fun is that? Angela has earned a huge fan in me – quality stamps, great price, excellent customer service – her company is the deal! And her blog is too fun – check it out!

Spooky Stripes

I made this in the small spare bit of time I had before the NFL kicked off the season Thursday night – finally! Football is a huge deal at my house, and we don’t miss a game. Ever, lol.

I used the Lizzie Anne Designs set Spooked, which happens to be their Product of the Week. That means if you purchase this set this week, you’ll get 10% off! Hurry over to Lizzie Anne Designs and get it before it isn’t on sale anymore!

The candy corn across the bottom is inked up in More Mustard and “thumped” with a Chocolate Chip marker. The edges of the Whisper White panel are sponged with More Mustard, Tangerine Tango, and Chocolate Chip – in that order.

Stamps: LAD Spooked
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Whisper White, Prima dp
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: gg ribbon, orange fibers, sponge

Tangerine Harvest

I did TWO challenges, on the day they were posted!!! Yay me!! Challenge one was the color combo challenge on Splitcoast, which was to create a card with a monchromatic theme. Challenge two was the Lizzie Anne Designs sketch for this week. I am feeling so good about this accomplishment, lol! It was a banner Tuesday evening at my house, I’m telling you.

Before you say to yourself – “Wow, that picture is totally not great” — I know! And I’m sorry! It was one of those days, and I just wanted to meet my personal goal of completing the challenges.  Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday, and thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: LAD Happy Harvest
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Marigold Morning, Apricot Appeal
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Cuttlebug (d’vine swirls), su scallop circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, key tag punch, bling, more mustard marker, paper piercer

Inspiration from the Hotel Fox

Stef posted the coolest inspiration challenge on Saturday! She linked everyone to the Hotel Fox, which has the coolest rooms i hae ever seen! The challenge was to make a card based on one of the rooms. I chose Room 217 – if you want to see it just click on “rooms” and “large” and it will show you!! I love the rich shades of reds and pinks it has. I’m definitely using this hotel to inspire more cards – thanks for the challenge, Stef!

I used Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy ink for the trees, and edged the panel with Brillinace Rocket Red Gold. All of it has a slight sheen and sparkle to it, which I did not capture well in the pic.

Stamps: Trees – Great Impressions; Sentiment – In the Treetop, Lizzie Anne Designs
Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Ink: Brilliance Pearlescent poppy, Rocket Red Gold, SU Craft White
Accessories: Circle Punches, Large brad, Dew Drops,, corner rounder

Splitcoast has a new challenge!

It’s called Cards for a Cause. It’s all about helping an organization spread goodwill and happiness withhandmade cards. Each month a different organization will be featured, and stampers are invited to donate cards that will be sent to that organization so they can forward them on to those in need. This month, for the first ever Cards for a Cause challenge, we are donating cards to Cards for Heroes. They rock! Please get involved in this fun challenge if you can!

My sample happens to be a patriotic themed card, but they certainly don’t have to be. I used High Hellos from Lizzie Anne Designs – what a super fun set! My sketch came from Lauren (mytime) – her Saturday Sketch rocked it out this weekend!! I love it!

Stamps: LAD High Hellos
Paper: Pacific Point, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Ink: Pacific Point, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Polka Dot Organdy Ribbon, Red Button, White Button, Blue Thread, dimensionals, Cuttlebug (Swiss Dots)
