A Big Chocolate Hug

Sunday was a lovely fall day at my house. Windows open, nice cool breeze, and the vague scent of someone burning leaves somewhere. So I decided to break out a “warm” stamp, that I have not used in a while. I also thought I’d catch up on some SCS challenges this week, and the sketch challenge did not let me down!

I made this card for a group of friends that I have — all of whom are “online” buddies. One I have met IRL. I have grown to depend on their friendship, and value it so much. Recently, one of us stated that she hopes she gives back to us what she takes (or something similar – I’m not quoting excatly!) — I could not think of a truer statement. I adore my friends, the conversations we have, the net they provide to fall back on, and the laughter (and tears) they share with me. BUT, I am lazy – so instead of making a card to send to all of them, I made this one and am posting for all to see!!! Ahhhh, the wonders of the internet! Saves me time, money, effort….ladies, you know I luvs ya!!

My card base is Close to Cocoa, stamped with two images from the Big Pieces set. My next layer is Bazzill Textured [dark] Grey — a combo I never would have put together were it not for the dp by Scrapworks. My hot chocolate is stamped on Whisper White (WW), using Chocolate Chip ink and a Close to Cocoa marker. I did the swirls by coloring the stamp with a black journaler, and stamping it off once. I stamped the whipped cream on a scrap piece of WW, added Liquid Applique, and cut it out (it is mounted on a dimensional). The peppermint stick is stamped in Ruby Red. The entire panel is sponged with Creamy Caramel and Close to Cocoa with a sponge dauber. I mounted this whole panel – grey and WW piece – on dimensionals.

To complete the card I put the sentiment (which reads: “Nothing’s better than a good friend with chocolate) on an unfolded punch from the Round Tab Punch (sponged the same way the other WW panel was). I used the Horizontal Slot Punch to make room for the stitched caramel and brown grosgrain ribbon. And simple as that, my warm fuzzy card was all done!

I do want to add a little funny — my DH thinks Liquid Applique is the neatest stuff ever!!! Gotta love those boys!!!
