Wooden Doodle Box

This is where I went with Karen’s (kthaman) Saturday Inspiration Challenge. They are so fun! But I never end up even close to where I started….oh well! That’s what the fun of it is, I guess!

I started with a wooden box I’ve kept forever. I knew it would come in handy one day. It used to hold tiny foam rubber Chinese symbols stamps. But they’ve been lost during one of our many moves. I painted the box with a dark green acrylic paint. While it was drying, I cut my Fancy Pants dp down to size and picked the Cool Carribean and Ruby Red cardstock to go along with it. I stamped some swirls from the Rhonna Farrar Swirls v. 1 set on each pice of cardstock, in the matching Classic ink. I have a stash of already colored flowers from Doodle This (SU) in a notebook ready for use, so I cut two of them out. They were stamped with Black Stazon on Naturals Ivory cardstock. I used my bone folder to give them a bit of curve, and attached them together with an opaque green decorative brad. The flowers are mounted on a Cosmo Cricket chipboard flower button – it is covered with the same dp as the box.

Once the paint dried, I Modge-Podged the dp to the box. Then I adhered the Ruby Red to it. I put the Cool Carribean on long dimensional strips. I put the big flower on last, and was all finished!!! I’m quite pleased with this, and am already not wanting to part with it! My original plan was to fill it with cards and send it to a friend as a housewarming gift….what do you think?
