Olive My Girlfriends!

Today’s Color Combination challenge featured Old Olive, Pretty In Pink, and Regal Rose. And woohoo do I ever love this combo!!!! My card yesterday had similar colors (but the Technique Challenge was a toughie – whew!) to these. But I only made on card yesterday – it took forever and I wasn’t at all happy with the results. Oh well – I am today!

It took way longer than I wanted it to for this first card of the morning to be finished! I’ve noticed that if I try to multitask, cards take forever to complete, and I make a total mess of my area. If I can just sit down and make a card from start to finish, the cleanup isn’t too bad. Guess I’ll have to make some more cards to help clean up the mess!

I used a precut tag that came on the sheet with Basic Grey’s Perhaps collection in the middle of this card. I noticed after I put it into the pocket I made out of Old Olive and Regal Rose cardstock) that I didn’t put it back in the center – but it does fit smack in the middle, I swear! I used a heat gun to curl the white and pink organdy ribbon (SU, retired), and attached the “wild side” of it with a spiral clip. I used a sponge dauber to apply dense color to the edges of the olive panel. I used my mat pack and paper piercer to punch the holes that I whipstitched the linen thread (SU) through. The doodle flowers (from the Doodle This set) stamped in Black Stazon on Naturals White cadstock, colored in Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose, edged with a Sakura Glitter pen, clear embossed, and curled with my bone folder. I attached them together with a random green decorative brad, and adhered them to the pocket with a dimensional. The entire pocket is adhered on the Pretty in Pink base with dimensionals.

The sentiment, from Edgy Eloquence, reads “Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and you cry with your girlfriends.” I stamped in in Old Olive, punche dit out with the round tab punch, and used a sponge dauber to add some Old Olive and Regal Rose color to it.  I love this card, these colors, the Basic Grey paper…..off to play some more!
